The Summit Peak Hoodie from New Horizons Designs

Oké, ik beken, ik ben gezwicht voor de "Hoodie"! 

Jullie gaan het misschien niet geloven maar deze Summit Peak Hoodie van New Horizons Designs is de eerste hoodie in mijn kast!  Ik was eigenlijk nooit te vinden voor een trui met een kap, dat leek me zo irritant om te dragen.  

Maar weg met die vooroordelen! Mijn Summit Peak Hoodie zit heerlijk 💕.

Okay, I confess, I've given in to the "Hoodie"!
You may not believe it, but this Summit Peak Hoodie from New Horizons Designs is the first hoodie in my closet! I was never a big fan of hooded sweaters, the hood seemed so irritating to me.
But away with those prejudices!  

My Summit Peak Hoodie feels so good, I might never take it off 💕.

De Summit Peak Hoodie  heeft een super comfy kap, met een iets hogere kraag waarin je lekker kan wegkruipen tegen de wind.  

Zet je de kap af, dan stoort die kraag totaal niet, want hij ligt mooi plat.

Om het gaatje voor de koordjes van mijn kap te maken gebruikte ik 11mm eyelets van Prym, nadat ik een stukje SnapPap aan de trui genaaid had om mijn stof te verstevigen.  

Je kan de gaatjes natuurlijk ook gewoon met vlieseline verstevigen, maar ik vind dat die SnapPap altijd zo'n mooi resultaat geeft.  

Ook de eindjes van mijn touwtjes werkte ik in hetzelfde materiaal af.  

The Summit Peak Hoodie has a cozy cowl hood with a higher collar so you can easily hide away for bad weather.  If you don't use the hood, the cowl lay nice and flat.  

I used eyelets from Prym to make holes for the strings.  I reinforced them with some SnapPap (I did the same with the ends of the strings).  This gives a nice, clean look.

   

De hoodie heeft verder ook een mooie prinsesbelijning en zakken!  Je kan ook kiezen voor een versie met een rits.  Persoonlijk vind ik die ook heel geslaagd, dus dat wordt een volgende projectje!

 

 The hoodie has front princess seams with inseam pockets. You can choose between a comfy pullover or utilitarian zip up.

De Summit Peak Hoodie is ontworpen voor sweaterstof, French Terry, tricot en voor elke stevige stof met 35% stretch.  

Ik kocht mijn pachtige stofjes allemaal in De modecoupon in Sint-Niklaas.  

De bloemetjesstof is een heerlijk zachte French Terry, de voering van de kap en de zak een katoentricot en de boorstof is glitterboordstof.

The Summit Peak Hoodie  is made for Sweatshirt Fleece, French Terry, Cotton Lycra, Jersey, Cotton Interlock, Poly Blends and Medium-Thick Knits with 35% stretch.

Ik ben echt helemaal weg van mijn trui.  Het is een "Must have" in elke kast 💖!

Top It Off Blog Tour with the La Croix Cross Back Top

Een blogtour over een specialeke deze keer ...

Ik stel jullie graag de "La croix cross back top" van "Winter Wear Designs " voor.  

Waarom een specialleke?  Omdat je de kruising zowel langs de rug als langs de voorkant kan dragen.

A blogtour about something special this time ...

I'm proud to present you the "La croix cross back top" from "Winter Wear Designs ".  

Why something special?  Because you can wear the cross over part in the front or in the back.

De "La croix" is een zeer elegante loszittende top met een gebogen zoom langs de gekruiste kant.  Afhankelijk van je stofkeuze is deze top gekleed of eerder casual.  Je kiest het beste voor een stofje dat soepel valt. Ik koos voor een oud roze modal stof en een zeer soepele tricot met de stieren.  

Dit resulteert in een mooi contrast.

The "La croix" is a loose fitting top with drape in the cross.  Depending on your fabric selections, you can easily dress this up or make it more casual. I choose a pink modal fabric and a very drappy jersey with bulls.  

This combination gives a nice contrast. 

Het patroon is niet het allermakkelijkste dat ik ooit genaaid heb, maar door de goede werkbeschrijving is het naaien ervan zeker goed te doen, zelfs voor een beginner die van een uitdaging houdt.  Technieken die aan bod komen zijn het fronsen en het aannaaien van een band om de randen af te werken.

This pattern is not the most easiest I ever made but it's perfect for an adventurous beginner.  

It includes skills of gathering, creating a cross over with a banded edge,and the option of how to make a bound bias edge..

De "La croix cross back top" van "Winter Wear Designs " is zeker een bezoekje waard, net zoals de andere blogs van mijn collega bloggers in deze blogtour.

Spring Into Color

Vandaag is het mijn dag in de "Sewing By Ti-Blog tour".  Het thema, "Spring into Colors", is ideaal om het eerste lentezonnetje te vieren.  

Ik koos dan ook voor een echt lentekleedje van Halla patterns: de Elise wrap top & dress.

Today is my stop in the "Sewing by Ti-Blog tour".  This months' theme is "spring into Colors", ideal to celebrate the first spring sun. 

I choose a real spring dress from Halla patterns: the Elise wrap top & dress

De Elise wrap top & dress heeft een prachtig gekruist voorpand met of zonder (gefronste) tailleband.

Origineel voorziet het patroon een gefronste rok en een A-lijn rok, maar je kan de top ook perfect combineren met de rok van de Carefree, de Felicity of de Bliss.

The Elise wrap top & dress has a beautiful crossed front.

You can sew it with or without the (ruched) waistband.  

The original skirt is a gathered or an A-line skirt, but the bodice and skirts can be interchanged 

with the Carefree, the Felicity or the Bliss.

 Het patroon biedt de mogelijkheid om zakken toe te voegen aan de rok, maar aangezien ik ze toch nooit gebruik liet ik ze weg.

Ik koos voor de aanpassende mouwtjes, maar er is ook een gefronst exemplaar voorzien.

The pattern comes with patch and in-seam pockets.  I don't use them so I havn't added them to my dress.  I choose the short fitted sleeve but there is also a short puffed sleeve.

En last but not least ... wil je een andere neklijn?  Dan kan je de tabs gebruiken die in het patroon opgenomen zijn. Iets dat ik zeker nog ga proberen!  Wordt vervolgd ... 

And last but not least ... do you want a special neckline?   Add the extra neckline strap.  It's definitely something I'm going to try!  To be continued ...

Toen Oxana van Sinclair Patterns me contacteerde met de vraag of ik haar nieuwste patroontje, de Sienna drawstring dolman top, wou testen was ik onmiddelijk enthousiast.

Oxana heeft een gave om patronen te tekenen die super makkelijk genaaid kunnen worden.  Een minimum aantal patroondelen voor een maximum resultaat.  De instructies zijn ook altijd tot in de puntjes uitgeschreven met goede duidelijke foto's.

Sienna drawstring dolman top.  I was immediately very enthusiast! 

Oxana's patterns are very well drafted, easy to sew, with very good instructions and with a minimum of pattern pieces. 

And the result is always stunning!

De Sienna is een prachtige dolman top.  

(De term Dolman wordt bij ons niet vaak gebruikt, het betekent dat de mouwen aangeknipt zijn.)

Wat dit patroon zo speciaal maakt zijn de trekkoordjes in de zijnaad.

The perfect tunic, is een prachtige, vrouwelijke blouse of tuniek.  

Ik maakte een casual versie om te dragen op mijn werk, maar je kan ook kiezen voor een meer geklede visie.  Het patroon is ontworpen voor niet rekkende stoffen zoals crepe, katoen, ... , maar het kan ook deels gemaakt worden in tricot

 The perfect tunic, is a feminine Blouse or Tunic PDF sewing pattern. 

The design is lovely for both casual or dressed up occasions. The pattern is designed for woven fabric, but jersey can be used for the body as well.

 

Het perfect tunic patroon is beschikbaar in 2 modellen. 

Model A heeft een rechte zoom en een rechte mouw die opgerold kan worden.

Ik koos voor een combinatie van beide modellen.  De mouwen en rug, zonder rugpas, van model A gaan perfect samen met de iets kortere versie B, met een afgeronde zoom.  Vooral de mouwen die je kan oprollen en kan vastknopen met een tab vind ik schitterend!

I chose a combination of both views: the sleeves and back from view A and the curved hem from view B.  I love the rolled up sleeves with the tab!

Breaking Ground with Hey June Patterns

Welkom op mijn dag van de "Breaking Ground Blog Tour 2018"!  Deze week verenigen meer dan 20 bloggers zich om iets nieuws te proberen.  Dit kan een nieuwe designer zijn, maar ook een nieuwe techniek.  Zolang ze zichzelf maar uitdagen om de grenzen te verleggen.

Ik koos resoluut voor de patronen van Adrianna van Hey June patterns.

Deze designer hield ik al een tijdje in het oog maar ik maakte nog nooit één van haar prachtige patronen.

Welcome to the "Breaking Ground Blog Tour 2018". This week over 20 bloggers are joining together to break new ground by trying a pattern designer that is new to them, try new techniques, new styles, or whatever way they want to push themselves.

I chose really quick for the designs from Adrianna from Hey June patterns.

Those patterns are so beautiful!

Ik koos ervoor om de Union st-tee en de Sandbridge skirt te maken. 

Beide patronen zijn prachtig gedetailleerd beschreven.  Elke stap duidelijk omschreven in verschillende deelstappen, met de nodige duidelijke illustraties.

I chose to sew the Union st-tee and the Sandbridge skirt.

Both patterns have great instructions with much detailed and clear drawings from each sewing step.

De Union st-tee is een perfect basispatroon.  Het heeft een v-hals of een ronde hals (een diepe en een minder diepe ronde hals).  Er zijn ook 4 mouwlengten inbegrepen. Ik maakte de korte mouwen .  
Er is een borstzakje voorzien.  

Het patroon heeft een gewoon voorpand en een FBA voorpand. Ik heb dat niet nodig maar ik kan aannemen dat dit super handig is.

The Union st-tee is a great wardrobe basic.  It comes with the option for a v-neck, scoop neck, or crew neck, and has four sleeve lengths included – short, elbow, 3/4, and long.  There is an optional chest pocket and a separate front piece that has been adjusted for a full bust (FBA).

De Sandbridge skirt is een jeansrok in 2 lengten: de mini versie en de versie net boven de knie.  De rok heeft is afgewerkt zoals een klassieke jeans met een rits, 5 zakken en een rugpasje,

De pasvorm is perfect en de afwerking tot in de details.  Zo wordt de binnenzijde van de tailleband volledig afgewerkt met paspel.

Je draagt de rok op het laagste deel van je taille, net boven je heupen.

De rok is zowel geschikt voor stretchbare als voor niet-stretchbare geweven stoffen.

Een toppertje!

The Sandbridge Skirt is a casual raw-hem skirt in two lengths.  View A hits mid-thigh and View B hits just above the knee.  Both views include traditional five pocket styling, a functional zipper fly, a back yoke, and belt loops.  The waistband facing is finished with bias tape, which makes it very easy to sew and provides another place for hidden fabric customization.  The Sandbridge is designed to be worn at the low waist for that perfect relaxed style.  The Sandbridge can be made with stretch or non-stretch bottom weight fabrics such as denim, corduroy, twill, velvet, or sateen.  For fabrics that don’t work well with a raw hem, there are instructions for sewing a traditional turned up hem as well.

It's a fantastic pattern!

The mountain view pull-on jeans van Itch to Stitch

Wil je een klassiek uitziende jeans, maar dan eentje zonder rits of knoop?  

Eentje die je gewoon omhoog trekt en die dan ook op de goede plaats blijft zitten?  

Het klinkt als te mooi om waar te zijn!

Kennis Wong bracht hier verandering in door de Mountain view pull on jeans uit te brengen. 

Want the look of classic jeans but without the zipper and button? 

A pull-on jeans that stays on its place?

It sounds like to good to be true!

Kennis Wong made it happen by designing the Mountain view pull on jeans.

 De Mountain view pull on jeans heeft 4 zakken, rechte pijpen en een taille die, door een brede tailleband, tot in je natuurlijke taille komt.  Dit zorgt voor een mooie platte buik 💖.

De jeans heeft verder een naad langs de achterkant van de pijpen.  Deze zorgt voor een aanpassende vorm.

The Mountain view pull on jeans has got 4 pockets and straight cut legs.  A slightly high mid-rise and a wide waistband are resulting in some tummy control 💖.  The seam along the back of the legs are there  for greater shaping .

 

Zeer belangrijk bij het maken van deze pull-on jeans is je stofkeuze.  

Je kiest het beste voor een jeansstof die 20 tot 30% stretch bevat en die zich goed herstelt na het rekken.  De rekbaarheid van je stof heeft eigenlijk niets te maken met de hoeveelheid Lycra of Elasthan die het bevat.

Hoe kom je dit rekpercentage dan wel te weten?  

Door een stretchtest op je stof uit te voeren.  

Je neemt een stuk van 10cm van de gevouwen stof tussen je vingers en rekt dit maximaal uit in de richting waarin je stof rekt (meestal is dit in de breedte). 

Wordt het stuk 12 cm dan heb je een rek van 20%, wordt het 13 cm dan heb je een rek van 30%, enz.

  

Very important with this pattern is the amount of stretch of your fabric.

The pattern recommends 20 - 30% stretch.   The percent of Lycra or Elasthan is not a straight indicator to the % of stretch. Only the actual stretch test can tell you the amount of stretch of your fabric.
How do you do this test?
Stretch a 10 cm folded piece of fabric on cross grain. If you can stretch it to 12 cm, then your fabric has 20% stretch, can you stretch it to 13cm, then your fabric is stretching 30%.

Een leuk detail is de zak van mijn broek.  Ik liet mij gaan met mijn borduurmachine. Heb je deze machine niet voorhanden dan is dat natuurlijk geen probleem.  Je vindt op google heel wat inspiratie om een tof motief op je broekzak te naaien.

A nice detail is the pocket.  I sewed it with my embroidery machine. If you don't have it, it's no problem, you can find a lot of creative pocket examples on google.

 Ik combineerde mijn Mountain view pull on jeans met de visby henley.  Een ander toppertje van Itch to Stitch waarover ik hier al geblogd heb.

 Zin om je eigen jeans te naaien, maar angst voor de rits en de knoop?  

Probeer dan zeker dit patroon eens.  

Toch liever een jeans met alles erop en eraan?  Dan is de Liana stretch jeans misschien meer je ding.  Ik schreef over de Liana hier reeds een blogpost.
